Welcome! As Wes and I were driving across Nebraska after our last Estes Park vacation was done, he promised that we would spend my 35th birthday in Estes Park. The more we talked about going back, the more we wanted his family to experience one of our favorites places too. I've grown up going to Estes Park with my extended family since I was a baby and love so much about this beautiful part of our country. While I have lots of recommendations on what we've enjoyed doing in the past, I'm absolutely ecstatic about having new eyes and experiences to try with the Nyberg/Thatcher clan too!
I've created this website to help you learn more about Estes Park, especially if you're able to join us. We completely understand that families have circumstances that may not allow them to travel, but we wanted everyone to be invited. Hopefully with the information a year in advance, that might help you prepare for a trip to Colorado. I'd be more than happy to share any additional information with you; whether it's on what to do, how we traveled with young babies/kids, the best hikes, altitude acclimation, or our detailed vacation budget.
The Basics
June 20-27th
Stay in Ogalala, NE June 19th, arrive in Estes Park June 20th.
Stay 7 nights in Estes Park, Drive home June 27th straight through.
**You are welcome to stay the entire week or just a few nights. We'd ideally love everyone that is taking part in this trip to be in Estes June 25th for Katie's Birthday, but understand certain days may work better for others.**
We'll plan 1-2 activities each day that you are welcome to attend, or not. For example, one day we'll meet at Bear Lake Trailhead at 9am for a hike. We'll also meet for grilling at the cottage at 6pm. You would be welcome to hike with us, spend the afternoon doing your own thing, and meet up for dinner that night. OR do none of that and find your own adventures too!
